Man Dies In Shooting Near Downtown LA Movie Set

LA police were searching for a gunman on Friday, who shot and killed a person in the vicinity of a downtown movie set, according to authorities.

The shooting happened in Bay Street’s block 1900 at around 11:40 p.m. on Thursday, said spokesperson Letisia Ruiz. The victim was in his 30’s and was pronounced dead on the spot.

The suspect, likely male, approached the victim and shot him, and then proceeded to flee in a vehicle, said the police. At this point there is no available description of either the suspect or the vehicle which he used to get away. The Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Bureau Homicide division is conducting the investigation.

The shooting, which occurred near a movie set, did not, however, involve any crew or cast members, said Ruiz.

A second man sustained gunfire injuries in what is now being seen as a separate shooting a few blocks from Bay Street’s block 1900, said Ruiz. The victim was taken to a hospital nearby.
