California declared that Governor Gavin Newsom would face a political recall on September 14 this year. The announcement came since it got ample signatures to satisfy the threshold required for triggering the election.

Lieutenant governor Eleni Kounalakis established the election date. In the event of the recall being successful, the elected candidate would complete the remaining time in Newsom’s term.

In December last year, a Newsom representative said that a ragtag team of anti-vaccine, pro-Trump extremists alongside some ambitious GOPs wanted to be state governor. The representative did not feel that anybody would like the position. As for Newsom’s spokesperson, it would be surprising if California’s people wished to have one more election in the subsequent year.

The ballot in the election will ask people whether they feel that Newsom has to be recalled as well as ask them to choose a successor. One of the gubernatorial candidates, namely John Cox, competed against Gavin Newsom last time around. So, unsurprisingly, Cox has been criticizing Newsom’s handling of this epidemic, and he even called the governor corrupt.

Through a recent statement, Cox made it clear that Californians are impatient with politicians with corruption who fail to deliver on the promises. In the statement, Cox also sounded optimistic about a much-needed gubernatorial change coming to California through the September election.

As per a recent Berkeley IGS survey, 36% of 10,289 individuals favored a recall, whereas 49% opposed it and the rest of them were undecided. More individuals did not want the election since Berkeley IGS’s earlier survey, in which just 45% of people said so.

Referring to the survey results, former San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer stated that Californians have spoken. For your information, Faulconer is among the many notable candidates in this gubernatorial race. That is why Faulconer also said that a gubernatorial change would come in California.
