LAC Reports More Coronavirus Cases, COVID-19 Fatalities

The number of coronavirus cases in LA County keeps dropping. Anyhow, with less than half of its residents being fully vaccinated, local officials emphasized how important it is to stay vigilant during the US Memorial Day weekend.

On May 30, 2021, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health’s officials reported 4 coronavirus disease-related fatalities and 175 more cases. Anyhow, they urged people who reside in LAC to use face masks and go for outdoor gatherings instead of indoor ones during the weekend.

California Governor Gavin Newsom warned that COVID-19 has not disappeared. On the other hand, DPH officials said that the recently released figures might be an undercount due to reporting delays during the weekend.

Around 250 individuals in LAC were hospitalized due to coronavirus disease on May 30, 2021. Conversely, in the early January surge, around 8,100 individuals were hospitalized for the same reason. Over 24,000 individuals in LAC have died due to coronavirus disease.

As per an LA Times analysis, around 54% of California residents have got one coronavirus vaccine dose, whereas about 44% of them have been completely vaccinated.

As for DPH’s director Barbara Ferrer, being vaccinated is the best means of preparing for a California state holiday, such as the Fourth of July or Memorial Day.

Anyhow, the frequency of Californians’ vaccinations has come down from 400,000 dosages daily to around 200,000 doses. To reverse that slide, the state governor declared a government plan to disburse about $117 million as incentives. That means anybody who receives the vaccination in the next few weeks can enter drawings with an opportunity to win dollars.

California is all set to fully open the state economy again by mid-June.

Public health executives feel that there is a need for 85% of US people to be fully vaccinated for lives to start resembling pre-epidemic conditions. Around 50% of US people have got at least a dosage, as per the CDC, whereas around 41% of them are completely vaccinated. Around 300 million coronavirus dosages have been given to people throughout the nation.
